Local conditions in Land O’ Lakes
The high water table is the story here. Trees near the lakes grow fast and rot early, and a big oak leaning over the water usually has roots that are half in the lake. Storm season in Land O’ Lakes
Wet ground and wind are a bad combination. The 2024 storms dropped lakefront oaks across Land O’ Lakes when the soaked soil let go of their roots. If a big oak on your lot leans toward the water and the ground stays soft, have us look at it in the spring. On the drier lots, thinning the crowns and cleaning the palms is usually enough.
